I am a critical theorist interested in the relationship between popular culture and the formation of collective identities, with a focus on Marxist, feminist and queer theory approaches to popular music. My research has included historical studies of US music industries and racialised branding strategies, the cultural politics of gender and sexuality in Hollywood film, the emergent aesthetics of K-Pop's music video industries, and the reproduction of social capital through supervision practices in higher education.
